California Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP) Implementation Grant Cohort 4

Due Date: Feb. 9, 2025 by 11:59 p.m.

Purpose

The California Department of Education is accepting applications from qualifying entities for the 2025-30 CCSPP Implementation Grant. Funds have been appropriated for grants through the California Community Schools Partnership Act as part of California Education Code (EC) sections 8900–8902[1] and the Budget Acts of 2021 and 2022 for LEAs to plan for, implement, and help coordinate community schools through June 2031. Implementation grant awards will be for a five-year period for LEAs to continue support for existing community schools and/or to establish and support new or expanding community schools.

Timeline

  • February 9, 2025 by 11:59 p.m. - Application Due to CDE
  • May 2025 - Proposed grantees announced and presented to State Board of Education
  • June-July 2025 - Grant Award Notification Letters released
  • July 1, 2025 - Project term begins

The grant period is July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2030.

Eligibility

An applicant must be an LEA (defined as a school district, charter school, or county office of education), a consortium of two or more LEAs, or a consortium of one or more LEAs that partners with one or more cooperating agencies (a federal, state, or local agency, or public or private nonprofit entity).

A Qualifying Entity is defined as:

  1. An LEA or a consortium that meets any of the following criteria, as applied to the entire population of students enrolled in the LEA or consortium:
    • 50% or more of the enrolled pupils at the LEA or the consortium are unduplicated pupils. 
    • The LEA or the consortium has higher than state average dropout rates. 
    • The LEA or the consortium has higher than state average rates of suspension and expulsion
    • The LEA or the consortium has higher than state average rates of child homelessness, foster youth, or justice-involved youth. 
  2. An LEA or consortium, on behalf of one or more schools within the LEA or consortium that satisfy any of the criteria listed above.

Grant Amount

Grant Amount: Funding is between $75,000 and $500,000 per school annually. Annual grant amounts will step down in year five by 25% to encourage LEAs to ensure sustainability after grants expire.

Please note the application consists of two parts: 1) An online questionnaire; and 2) A .zip folder of several
forms and attachments including a Community School Implementation Plan for each applying school site;
Asset Mapping/Needs Analysis; Shared Decision Making Council Roster, minutes; and Artifact
demonstrating alignment to CCSPP Framework.

Opportunity 

Grants to public schools and government agencies for projects that promote digital skill development. Funding is intended for education initiatives that support projects that enhance digital skills development for kindergarten through grade 12 students and teachers. Examples include summer or afterschool programs in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM); teacher professional development; and research on technology-infused pedagogy.

Eligibility

K-12 Schools. To be considered for an invitation, a school must be classified as not-for profit elementary or secondary school (public or private) and registered with the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).
