The Oceanside Unified Community Schools soccer tournament at Libby Elementary School brought together students, families, and staff for a vibrant day of connection, teamwork, and school pride. With more than 96 student-athletes participating and over 300 parents and family members in attendance, the event reflected the power of community-centered engagement.

Hosted in partnership with Pley Sports, the program included a six-week after-school component leading up to the tournament. This structure gave students consistent opportunities to build skills, stay active, and develop confidence before showcasing their growth on game day.

As a Community Schools initiative, the tournament went beyond athletics — it created a welcoming space where relationships could grow across school sites, including Mission Elementary School, Libby Elementary School, Pablo Tac School of the Arts, and Laurel Elementary School. Families gathered not just to cheer on students, but to connect with one another, access resources, and celebrate a shared commitment to student success.

Events like this highlight how Community Schools foster strong partnerships, encourage family involvement, and support the whole child, academically, socially, and emotionally by creating meaningful opportunities for engagement beyond the classroom.
