National City Middle Community Schools Launch

National City Middle Community Schools Launch

National City Middle School recently celebrated its official launch as a community school, showing their commitment to shared leadership and community connection to learning both inside and outside of the classroom.

This celebration featured student performances, community leaders, and food vendors. On display was a beautiful tile centerpiece of the National City Middle family names who are committed to being a part of the collaborative work of their Community School.

As part of the celebration, the school hosted a lowrider car show. The South Bay community has a long, rich history in lowrider culture that began in the 1950's, as a form of expression and pride. National City is storied as one of the founding communities where lowrider clubs transformed cars into mobile works of art to display their community and cultural pride.

As a nurturing environment with a historically rich culture, NCM's mission is to inspire, encourage, engage, and empower students to self-advocate their development to become constructive, productive citizens in a global community by cultivating a learning experience that is rich and relevant based on a foundation of school-wide literacy, instructional strategies, and collaboration.

NCM was awarded the community schools grant in the 2025-26 school year.
